Today I hooked up my PS2 as there were games I wanted to play there, such as Resident Evil 4. I had to buy a new memory card just to play. At first, the console was simply making weird noises, but afterwards, I started getting random disc reading errors. I realized after trying a few games that this wasn't about the CDs; it was about the console. Sometimes the games would work, sometimes they would take a few resets.

I called a friend of my brother's, who repairs consoles. He said the disc reader must have collected a lot of dust, or something like that. He added that cleaning it would be risky; sometimes it made the condition of the console even worse. I asked him if it was worth it. He said it probably wasn't.

I don't know, it would have been nice playing my all-time favorite games had the PS2 not betrayed me. So what's your opinion on this?

Same here, although I only played it on the PS2. Somehow it NEVER gets boring...
