I won't learn AS3 unless I'm on gunpoint, I took a look at the book and it's COMPLETELY different. I'll just stick to AS2.

No, it's not.
And, no offense, you aren't very advanced in programming yet, so it'd be good for you to switch to AS3 as soon as possible. The better you are, the more you don't want to switch. But, the better you are, the easier it is to switch. You just have to bite the bullet and learn it.
