Great programming, great interface, but HORRIBLY BORING. Nobody wants to play an educational Flash game.

But the thing that bugs me about this is that they don't fire back! Who runs around waiting to be killed?!

Good interface, controls, design, levels, and animations, but it's just unrealistic to not have enemies that fire back.

There are hundreds of these, and this one doesn't stand out at all.

First of all, there was no back button.

You have very bad grammar and spelling.

You didn't explain this very well, either. "Press F8 and a box will appear". "Name it button so it doesn't confuse you". "Leave Registration as it is."

I think you should have explained everything in the MOVIECLIP PROPERTIES PANEL (aka "Box") rather than having the user skip through everything in it.

You also said to put a }: at the end of the button's actions. That'll create a compiler error! Use semicolons (;) you moron.

You didn't explain any of the button events, except for "onPress". There are many more button events to learn, such as onRelease, onRollOver, onDragOut, onDragOver, onRollOut, etc.

And finally, you taught the oh-so-inefficient way of placing code on movieclips or buttons. It's ALWAYS better to give the button an instance name, and put the code on a frame. For example:

myBut.onRelease = function(){
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
}

Outdated and Useless

You know there's a CS4 now, right? This is quite useless to most people. Experienced authors won't need this tutorial, and beginners won't buy Flash 8, because there have been two new versions since then.

I guess I should comment on the actual tutorial, now. Why did you have those useless rollovers (for images)? On the slides you used them, there was plenty of space for the picture.

And in some of your sections, you could have been a little more thorough. For example, "The Toolbar". You didn't explain ANY of the tools! You also didn't explain the publish settings, at all. You should have explained what "Load Order", "Generate Size Report", "JPEG Quality", etc. all mean.

For a tutorial, this really sucked.

Good Concept

But there were some issues. I hate how the CARS are above the STOPLIGHT. I'd always click on a car sitting above the stoplight and send pedestrians, only to have them killed. I also hate the hit testing with the cars; I had a pedestrian PAST THE WHITE LINE and he was killed by a car two feet away from him.

I hate that it'd a tiled game, so I always miss by one tile. It was very boring, and it's just plain stupid to not be able to move back.

Meh...

This is no more than a fancy button game. Sure, there's guns, but when you get down to it it's pretty much just clicking buttons.

The fact that you use poorly drawn and animated stick figures just brings down the excitement of this game a lot.

I hate how if you shoot something other than a stick figure, nothing happens. Also, no civilians become suspicious if you shoot your rifle, or shoot the wrong person's leg off.

And seriously... the sniper scope is too small. I'd like to be able to zoom out and see a "binocular view" and have shooting disabled or something.

Extremely boring game. I would have gone on longer but I just got so bored. I committed suicide, feeding myself to the bland looking pacman ripoffs floating around me.

The lack of effort put into this piece made it a very very very very boring game.
